Boston: L.C. Page and Co, 1899. First Edition. Small Octavo. unopened. 383 pages, index. pages 367-373 have a chronology of famous violinist. The chapter on Pagani is very fascinating as is the chapter "Women as Violinists". There are photo-engravings of 10 of the most well known including: Pagaini, Corelli, Ysaye, Franz Kneisel and the remarkable woman violinist Maud Powell who was the first woman violinist from America to achieve worldwide fame. A very nice copy bound in green cloth elaborately decorated in a pictorial gilt and repeated on spine, top edge gilt all others uncut. light wear to spine ends, previous owner's name. Nice.
