FIRST & ONLY RARE EDITION ! . *** **** *** . . . A SUPERB MID-1956 COLOR WOODBLOCK PRINT . . . WITH TITLE: "FAN CHUAN: SAIL BOAT" . . . THREE SAILORS PLY THEIR SAIL BOAT ON THE RIVER . . . LARGE SHORE LANDSCAPE IN THE BACKGROUND . * Shows three sailors plying the river with their small sail boat, with a large crag in the background. With long inscription at the left: "HEBEI QIN YU ZHON WEN XIE YI: HEBEI [BY] QIN YU ZHONG WEN XIE YI." QIN Yu was his alternate studio name. . * Color woodblock print by QIN, with his signature in block and his artist's red cinnabar Yin Zhang [seal/chop]. . * THE ARTIST: QIN Zhongwen [1896-1974]: Qin was a native of Xingtangxian, Hebei province. In 1915 he entered the Law Depart. Beijing University and joined Painting Methods Research Society, organized by Cai Yuanpei and directed by Cen Hengke. In 1920 he was researcher in Chinese Painting Research Society. Before 1937 a lecturer in NAA Beijing. In 1937-45 studied calligraphy and painting at home. In 1945 he was a professor of Chinese painting history at Beijing University. After 1957 he was a member of Beijing Chinese Painting Academy, he was chiefly a landscape painter. . *** THE PUBLISHER/DISTRIBUTOR: .
