About This Item
This is a first edition of The Far Lands, by the American writer James Normal Hall (1887-1951), who is best known for the Mutiny on the Bounty trilogy. It was published in 1950.
It is the fictional re-telling of the settlement of Hawaii seen through the eyes of the legendary figures found in Hawaiian mythology. A group of Tongans are in search of their promised lands; the story details the struggles they overcome and describes their faith in their ability to find their final home island. Maui is the main character and the story tells of his life from childhood to old age. It is a story of thrilling adventure.
It is 298 pages, unadorned except that each chapter title is printed in blue. This book's original owner had the covers wrapped in light plastic. The only wear is to the dust jacket and covers; all of it is shown in the photos. The book has a slight smell of must but it is currently being stored with a scenter. The inside of the book is pristine.
