SINCE THE AUTHOR WAS RECOVERING FROM AN OCTOBER 24 HEART ATTACK AND HE DIED A MONTH AFTER THE PUBLICATION OF THIS FINAL VOLUME OF THE "SAGA OF THE NORTHWEST" TRILOGY, THERE ARE LIKELY VERY FEW SIGNED COPIES OF THIS NOVEL. ROLVAAG WROTE ALL HIS NOVELS IN NORWEGIAN AND THIS ONE WAS TRANSLATED INTO ENGLISH BY TRYGVE M. AGER. .
