A wonderfully bright, tight first edition, boldly inscribed and signed in red ballpoint on front flyleaf: "For Bob Malott / With the highest regard -- / Ben J. Wattenberg / 09/04 / AEI." Wattenberg (1933-2015) was an influential but nonpartisan neoconservative political commentator, demographer and author. "AEI" refers to right-wing think tank American Enterprise Institute. Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago civic/business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist.
