An excellent first edition of this posthumous collection of nature essays by Richard Jefferies, bound in delightful colourful cloth. Written by John Richard Jefferies, a nineteenth century nature writer known for his beautiful depictions of rural England in both fiction and non-fiction. He inspired the likes of J. S. Fletcher and Henry Williamson, with other writers who admired his works including Leslie Paul, Henry Miller, Jeff VanderMeer and David Garnett.This work was collected posthumously by the author's widow, and includes essays on country places, the July glass, the country-side of Sussex, Buckhurst Park, walks in the wheat fields and cottage ideas.A first edition, bound in the excellent decorative cloth. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart, with just light bumping to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
