An uncommon work.A series of fifty colourful watercolours of Oxford by William Matthison, complete with fifty tipped-in colour plates.Matthison lived in Oxford teaching private painting classes, compiling this lovely volume of paintings during his life in the city at the time of the boom of the postcard industry.With descriptive notes by Edward C. Alden.Undated, dated from Jisc from a copy held at the British Library. In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally, smart. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few light marks to the boards. Spine is very lightly rubbed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with scattered spots, no spots to the plates. Descriptive leaves for plates V and VIII and misbound upside down. Very Good Indeed
