NY: Knopf., 1943. First Edition . Hardcover. Presentation label tipped in to the front endpaper is to "Col. Oveta Hobby" with the compliments of William R. Boyd, Jr., Petroleum Industry War Council Chairman. Very good in red cloth with spine a little sunned. Chapter heading sketches by Clare B. Metzger, includes appendices, one of which is an Oil Industry glossary; 174 pages. Ickes was Petroleum Administrator in WWII, and Oveta Hobby served as the first Director of the Women's Army Corps, and the first Secretary of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare when it was founded in the 1950's. Her husband, former Governor of Texas William P. Hobby, is who Hobby Airport in Houston is named for.
