Simon and Schuster New York., 1943. First Edition (Shown).. Hardcover.. VG/--. 8 3/4 x 6 x 1 1/2.. NON SMOKING STORE. My listing INCLUDES PHOTO OF ACTUAL BOOK for sale. VERY GOOD. I would have rated it higher except for the binding crack at ffep. Sewn binding. No dust jacket or is missing. Boards are red cloth, lettering gilt, gold paw print embossed on front. Back has light edge wear, one slightly bent corner tip with very slight breaking of cloth, small 3/4 inch dot of light soil, and minor shelf wear. Spine is bright, solid, no rips, a bit of edge wear top and bottom edges and some minor small creases top and bottom, small white spot at top, is lightly sunned but lettering inside green box still bright, list of authors along spine is more sunned. Front cover has minor edge wear, two slightly bent corner tips, and minor shelf wear. Page top edges are sunned and dusty but side and bottom are clean. Inside of book is tight, clean, bright, clear, flat. Ffep has residue from prior name sticker, 4 1/4 x 3 inches irregular borders. At title page, paper is broken and spine is visible, cloth is fine but front cover is a bit loose, however no pages are loose or missing. Inside of book does not show its age at all. Rag edge pages. A few illustrations by James Thurber. No photos. Introduction by James Thurber. Contents. Editor’s Preface. Acknowledgements. Has printed notice on back of title page “About The Appearance Of Books In Wartime - A recent ruling by the War Production Board has curtailed the use of paper by book publishers in 1943. In line with this ruling .... etc.”.

IMPORTANT RE POSTAGE: I'm in Canada so books to the USA/Other Countries are International shipments and may be delayed by CUSTOMS and/or HOMELAND SECURITY. I'm using the Biblio standard postage matrix, which gives average postage fees, therefore sometimes for an OVERSIZE or LARGE heavy book or expensive book, the postage may be too low and may require extra charges. If I know this in advance, I will notify the buyer before the order is processed.

This is not a huge book warehouse, it is a small one-owner store run by a true book lover. POSSIBLE DELAYS: I'm elderly and disabled and while this usually does not cause a delay in order processing, it sometimes may cause a small delay for me to get to the post office.
