A first edition copy of this collection of Betjeman's essays on architecture, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Illustrated with a folding plate and numerous illustrations by the notable war artist John Piper (1903-1992). Sir John Betjeman (1906-1984) was a writer and broadcaster, and was Poet Laureate from 1972 until his death. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is bright and smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Dust wrapper is very smart, though a little sunned to the spine, with a small closed tear to the head of the spine, with a tape repair to the verso of the wrap. Fine
