About This Item
Fantasy Press, Reading, Pennsylvania, 1950. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Illustrator: A. J. Donnell. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece and all of the internal decorations have been drawn up by A. J. Donnell. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. The second chronologically, though written after the author had written five previous books in the Lensman series. Virgil Samms is the founder of the Galactic Patrol, and the first sentient being in our cosmos to wear the "lens" (a unique badge of authority which grants the user telepathic powers). This is how the Galactic Patrol was created and the giving of the first "Lens". Softening, rubbing and a little fraying of the back strip edges with very noticeable sunning to the back strip along with stains  please see photograph. The gilt titling of the back strip has faded considerably. There is a very noticeable cock of the spine with a little rubbing and bumping of the book corners. Stains, rubs and foxing to book panels and light scattered foxing of the extreme edges of the book. Age toning and pages. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [13], 2 - 306, [2] pages..
