London: Longmans, Green & Co., 1885. First, limited edition, no. 249 of a total 250 copies of the Large Paper edition. Part of the Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes. Externally fair, internally good. Includes the bookplate of noted book collector and Grolier Club member Frederic Robert Halsey, as well as that of Newton C. Brainard. Three quarter dark blue leather over mustard colored cloth, gilt spine lettering, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. Worn with considerable rubbing to the extremities, chipping to the spine foot, hinges good, text block sound but not tight, 2 inch square darkened area to half-title and opposite blank from old newspaper clipping, a couple of other pages with clipping ghosts but mainly very faint, pages clean with no other names or markings. Well illustrated, with a couple of extra illustrations very neatly mounted in blank areas at the ends of sections, within the lines that border the text.. First, Limited Edition. Hard Cover. Fair. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
