About This Item

Devon [U.K.]: Prospect Books, 2003. Very Good condition in a Fine dust jacket. The jacket is protected by a removable Brodart clear-plastic sleeve. NO chips. NO tears. NO creases. NO fading. Sharp corners. Faint shadow on the front free endpaper where something small, perhaps a previous owner's label, has been neatly removed (no loss). Rough spots (glue residue sanded off?) on the endpapers, entirely hidden by the jacket's inner flaps. PHOTOS UPON REQUEST. Footnotes. Bibliography. Index. Bound in the original lavender boards, stamped in bright gold. From the dust jacket: "Here are laid out the food habits of the Eastern Roman Empire in the Middle Ages, which for centuries has tempted and fascinated the West, yet little has been written in English on the subject. This is a pioneering study… There is also an authoritative glossary of Greek food words and phrases, a foundation on which future scholars will come to rely. Andrew Dalby is a classical scholar, food historian and student of languages.". First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good condition/Fine dust jacket. 8vo. 268pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
