London: Geo. B. Whittaker, 1827. Leather. Good Only. 7.5" by 4.5". None. 'Foscari and Julian: Tragedies' is a collection of two plays by Mary Russell Mitford. Mary Russell Mitford born in 1787, was an English author and dramatist. She is best known as the author of 'Our Village', a series of sketches depicting a village scenes with vividly drawn characters, based upon her home village of Three Mile Cross. This particular volume features two of her tragic plays. With the bookplate of 'Poonamallee Lending Library' to the front pastedown. Poonamallee is a province west of Chennai, India. In a half leather binding with marbled paper covered boards. Externally, generally sound but with boards almost detached. Rubbing to the boards and to the extremities, resulting in some loss. Mark to the front and rear boards. Spine label is missing. An institutional label to front pastedown. Internally, text block firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean but with the odd spot and handling mark. Small closed tear to front due to joints and a ink annotation to title. Good Only
