[4], 226, [2], 16pp. With a half-title, an engraved frontispiece, one further engraved plate, 13 engraved illustrations in the text, and a terminal publisher's advertisement catalogue, dated November, 1861. Original publisher's embossed dark green cloth, lettered in gilt. Rubbed, spine dulled. Armorial bookplate of Oliver Brett to FEP, FFEP and half-title detached, frontispiece stained, scattered spotting. The first edition, first issue, of Thackeray's history of the the first four Hanoverian monarchs. . First edition, first issue. 8vo.
