Each photograph is approximately 8 x 5 1/2” and mounted (one on each side) on boards; almost certainly originally bound into an album (the left edge is strengthened with cloth, with holes top and bottom). As follows: “Circuit Avenue, Cottage City” (captioned on a printed label), depicting what is now known as Oak Bluffs, looking up the street with commercial buildings and boarding houses, men, women, children, horse and wagons in the scene; [verso] “Looking Out at Sea, Cottage City, now ‘Oak Bluffs’ “ (captioned in pencil years later than the photograph), several sailboats are on the water, railroad tracks in the foreground and a small steamer at the dock; “Bath House, Cottage City” (caption on a printed label), several people are visible at the entrance, leading to the bath house itself and its observation tower; [verso] “Sea View Hotel, Cottage City” (captioned on a printed label), a carriage and two people are in the picture; sheets are hanging out to dry on the balconies. Only minor defects; very good or better condition.
