About This Item

1. A Little Kiss Each Morning (A Little Kiss Each Night)

This sheet music is to one of the songs from the 1929 film The Vagabond Lover, which is an early example of a vehicle being created for a popular music star.

It is A Little Kiss Each Morning (A Little Kiss Each Night), which was written by Harry Woods and recorded by Vallee. It refers to the film as a 'Radio Play', although it was published in 1929, when the movie came out.

The Vagabond Lover is a 1929 American pre-code black-and-white, comedy-drama musical film about a small-town boy who finds fame and romance when he joins a dance band. The film was directed by Marshall Neilan, and is based on the novel of the same name, by James Creelman, who also wrote the screenplay. It was Rudy Vallee's first feature film, and also starred Sally Blane, Marie Dressler, and Charles Sellon.

The film premiered in New York on November 26, 1929. A DVD version was released in 2005.

This music is 6 pieces and is in terrific condition; just minor wear. It's perfectly usable and/or will look great in a frame.

2. Miss You

Miss You is a 1929 song by the Tobias brothers: Charles, Henry and Harry. It was one of the few songs where the three collaborated, but it was their first published song, and their first hit, probably because it was recorded by the enormously popular Rudy Vallee & His Connecticut Yankees.

In 1942, it was revived for the Universal Pictures musical comedy Strictly in the Groove, directed by Vernon Keays. In the film, it was sung by The Dinning Sisters and played by Ozzie Nelson & Orchestra.

Also in 1942, Dinah Shore's version reached #8 on the Billboard charts. After that, it was recorded by, among others, Bill Haley & His Comets (1957), The Mills Brothers (1958), Dinah Washington (1962), Nat King Cole (1962) and Vic Damone (2000).

4 sheets of music plus covers.

Near-perfect condition; wear at the right edge. (The sheet is larger than the scanner)

3. Let's Put Out the Light (and Go To Sleep)

Published by Harms New York 1932

Words and music by Herman Hupfeld, Featuring Rudy Vallee

This song, which was recorded at least 20 times, was a huge hit for Rudy Vallee in1932. It was also a hit for Rosemary Clooney, Bing Crosby, Sarah Vaughan, Jane Russell, Lena Horne and Dean Martin.

Herman Hupfeld (1894-1951) is best known for As Time Goes By, Sing Something Simple, Let's Put Out The Lights (And Go To Sleep), When Yuba Plays The Rhumba On The Tuba, I've Got To Get Up And Go To Work, Are You Making Any Money?, Savage Serenade, Down the Old Back Road, A Hut in Hoboken, Night Owl, Honey Ma Love, Baby's Blue, and The Calinda.

This music is in near-perfect condition. On the back is The Blue Pajama Song.

4. When It's Springtime in the Rockies

This song was written by Mary Woolsey, Milt Taggart and Robert Sauer, and recorded by Rudy Vallee in 1929. It does not appear to be related to the Gene Autry film. I can't find any information about it.

This is the 'Special Edition' of the music; I assume because it includes the music for a Ukulele solo.

Four pages of music plus covers. Superb condition.

FREE BONUS:

I have the cover only of Good Night Sweetheart. There's a crease to the cover but it was a massive hit in 1931.

Note: I have lots of vintage sheet music listed here, some singly, many in bundles. You're welcome to create your own bundle, or just buy one piece from a grouping.
