A very scarce copy of this fascinating historical, political and literary study of France by Henry Lytton Earle Bulwer, a renowned British Liberal politician, diplomat and writer. Complete in two volumes. A first edition copy. With a folding plate. This work is split into three sections: Book I: The Capital; The Characteristics Book II: Historical Changes Book III: Predominant Influences In a full cloth binding with gilt title to spines. Externally, slight bumping to extremities and head and tail of spine. Small splits to cloth to head of joints, more severe to rear joint volume I. Slight fading to extremities of boards. Hinges slightly strained but firm. Internally firmly bound, slightly strained in places. Pages age toned with the odd spot, but generally bright and clean. Very Good
