Henty with twelve illustrations by Walter Paget and a map preceding first chapter. First edition George Alfred Henty (1832-1902), was a prolific English novelist and a special correspondent. He is best known for his historical adventure stories that were popular in the late 19th century. Wal (Walter Stanley) Paget (1863-1935) was a successful portraitist and illustrator a brother of renowned illustrator Sidney Paget. In an illustrated cloth binding. Externally, sound but with some wear to extremities, rubbing and occasional marks to boards. Hinges tender with free endpapers missing. Internally, generally firmly bound although slightly strained in places with the odd page detached. Bright but with occasional slight foxing and the odd handling mark. Good
