The scarce first edition of writer, translator and teacher of French Henri van Laun's two volume study of the French Revolution. Recounting the history of the country 'from the beginning of the first French revolution to the end of the second empire', Van Laun chronologically charts the causes of the Revolution, and its consequences.With nine pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear of volume I, and eight pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear of volume II. In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Fading to back strips. Bumping to back strip heads and tails, with small losses to the cloth in these regions. Head of front and rear joints of volume I starting, with boards holding firm. Boards exceptionally bright and clean. Internally, firmly bound. Some significant spotting to centre of volume I text block, with pages of volume II bright and clean. Very Good
