About This Item

1673 Stubbe Justification of England WAR w/ Netherlands TORTURE Illustrated RARE

Henry Stubbe was a 17th-century English scholar known for his vast areas of study. He wrote treatises on medicine, Mohammedism, biographies, and even a treatise on chocolate. However, it was his controversial treatise on war the Netherlands that brought him much fame. First published at the onset of the Third Anglo-Dutch War, "A Further Justification of the Present War against the United Netherlands" provided reasoning for England's military engagements with the Netherlands.
