About This Item
The Macmillan Company, 1937. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Dustjacket . Brief Gift inscription from previous owner. Gardens in color shown in four seasons; and flowers and plantings (over 300 shown), text on each with their origin, planting and care. Louise Beebe Wilder (1878â1938) was an American gardening writer and designer whose books are now considered classics of their era. Wilder wrote ten books about her experiences as a gardener that were popular for offering clear, explicit advice rather than flowery nature writing. She also wrote for newspapers and gardening and shelter magazines such as Horticulture, House & Garden, and the New York Times. She was honored with the Garden Club of America's Gold Medal for Horticultural Achievement in 1937.
