Very Good. anonymous collection of voyages including those of Cada Mosto, Dias, Vasco de Gama, Columbus, Vespucci, Cortereal, Cabral, de Solis, Cortes, Albuquerque, Magellan and others. Of the five maps listed in the Directions to the Binder, that of the West Indies is not present in this and other copies and almost certainly was not included. 518pp. Recased copy in half leather binding, with gilt lettering and inlays to the spine. With 5 raised bands. With various steel-engraved plates and fold-out maps.Condition: Good. Some rubbing and superficial chipping to the boards. Light scuff marks to the spine. Previous owner's bookplate (charles Aiken Fairbridge) fixed to front pastedown, and signature and date (JI Harding 1829) to title page. Some foxing throughout, but more pronounced to the first and last few pages. Stains to edges of first few pages and first plate. Offsetting to pp. 98-99, 202-203 and 200-201 due to old newspaper articles loosely inserted. Light creasing to top edges of a few pages, and small stains to edges of last few pages. well bound . a copy sold in 2007 at Christies for $6600. very scarce.
