(USA) 2nd printing of the first edition 1928) No marking, pages clean, a touch of rubbing to covr corenr tips just breaking the paper, slight darkening to top edge of covers, the gold to the spine titles have worn off, thus Good used copy; lacking the DJ. 7.5 x 5.25, black on white pattern covers, black cloth spine, 248pp, B&W illus frontis and 12 B&W plates, with droll line drawings in text. Loos is perhaps best known for her short novel Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, a satirical view of a blonde showgirl from Arkansas out to get a rich husband. It was an overnight bestseller. She wrote a sequel titled But Gentlemen Marry Brunettes, in which the plot follows the further adventures of Lorelei Lee and Dorothy Shaw. The book is told through the voice of Lorelei. In 1955 a film was made of the book. " ...I always believe in knowing several different kinds of people, and as long as my husband is of the wealthy classes, I prefer to meet brainy gentlemen who have got ideas on the outside..."
