Reader reviews for Geo-Graphics

From the publisher

Our universe is brimming with secrets, and surprising curiosities. Here readers will learn the answers to all the questions they've asked themselves:

What does the Sun look like from different planets in our galaxy? Why doesn't the Moon always appear the same? What is the largest river on Earth? And the highest mountain?

In Geo-Graphics, our world becomes transformed by acclaimed artist Regina Gimnez, into 96 pages of gorgeous shapes and colors. Planets and stars, continents and islands, rivers and lakes, volcanos and hurricanes ... here they are presented as circles, polygons, lines, spirals, and accompanying facts that explain the world around us.

This special and unusual atlas is a marriage of science and art like no other.

About the author

Alexis Romay is the author of the novels La apertura cubana and Salidas de emergencia, and two books of poetry, Los culpables and Diversionismo ideolgico. He has translated into Spanish eight novels and two memoirs in verse, three novels in prose, over 40 picture books, and a novel into English. Among other honors, he has twice won first prize in the International Latino Book Awards for Best Chapter/Young Adult Book Translation - English to Spanish. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and son.

Regina Gimnez has always been captivated by old atlases, and their beautiful pictures and maps. As a child she scanned through these big books, voraciously looking for facts about the Earth. In recent years, as an acclaimed artist in her home city of Barcelona, she has returned to these images to transform them into magnificent prints, brimming with color.

Valerie Block is the author of the novels Was It Something I Said?, None of Your Business, and Don't Make a Scene. She has been a fellow at Hawthornden International Retreat for Writers, and a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome. She lives in New Jersey with her husband and son. This is her first translation.
