Apart from some writing and a stamp on the first blank page opposite the paste down, the text and images inside appears clean and clear throughout. 'A fully illustrated study of the principal German handguns of the Second Reich: the tow commission-designed revolvers of 1879 and 1883, the Parabellums of 1904, 1908, and 1913 (LP 08), and the Mauser C 96 taken into emergency service in 1915 alongside blowback personal-defence weapons such as the Langenhan FL-Selbstlader, and the Beholla series, the 7.65mm Dreyse and the Walter Modell 4. Each weapon is described and illustrated with details of production history and data. There is also brief histories of manufacturers. The second half of the book is devoted to holsters and accessories, with details of manufacturers; ammunition and cartridges used in the various weapons; the complicated and often misunderstood unit marking; the issue of Parabellums at the outbreak of the first world war; plus the bonus of a directory of unit abbreviations and glossary of key terms and ranks.
