Vol. 1 is the second printing of 1807, (virtually identical to first edition of 1794) Vol. 2 is the first edition thus, published in 1794. Printed by Bodoni. There was also an imperial quarto edition which is often erroneously catalogued as a folio. Text in Italian. Both volumes were contemporaneously bound in identical half-leather with marbled boards, endpapers and edges. Both bear book plates on f.e.p. for John Walbanke Childers. Following title page in Vol. 1 is a dedication page which bears the text, "All' augustissimo cattolico monarca delle Spagne Carlo IV di Borbone imperadore delle Indie, ec.; Giambatista Bodoni suo tipographo di camera."
