New York: Thomas Y. Crowell Co, 1957. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Sketches by Robert Galster. Inscribed by Terkel on the front endpaper. Good, lacking the jacket. Orange cloth, lightly rubbed, with black ink lettering and designs on the spine and front board. Firmly bound with a slight forward lean, moisture stain at the top edge and extending onto the top two inches of the first twenty pages. Terkel's history of jazz written for a younger audience, a focus on jazz greats like Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Bix Beiderbecke, Fats Waller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Woody Herman, and Stan Kenton.
