About This Item
London: Putnams, 1931. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/Good. First Printing. A charming Signed Presentation Copy of the famous German biographer's own autobiography. pp 431, illustrated with photographs. Original green cloth with gilt titles. Spotting to the fore-edge, contents unaffected. The book is reasonably tight and square with a dusty top edge but otherwise in VG shape. The dustjacket is browned at the spine with a chip at the crown and some other more minor loss at the corners, A Good dustjacket. At the half title the author has written, "to Mr & Mrs (name), cordially, Ludwig, London 18.10.32" Laid into the book are two contemporary postcards upon one of which the author has written, "hoping to see you at this house!, Ludwig". Also laid into the book is a publisher leaflet for the author's forthcoming title, Schlieman of Troy. A nice item.
