About This Item
Saint Paul: Webb Publishing Co, 1944. First edition of the author's first book, 8vo, pp. [8], 226; front hinge cracked, textblock slightly cocked, very good in a dust jacket with a few shallow chips. This copy signed by Manfred on title page ("Frederick Feike Manfred") and with a lengthy inscription on endpaper: "Dear Tom and Nick and Margery, We had such a good stay at your chateau. It was a sad thing to leave, to have to get back to work. I shall miss all our talks, the music, and the swims... Here is a small token of appreciation."
