The Man with the Golden Gun is the final novel in Fleming's James Bond series, published eight months after the author's death. Unlike the other Bond novels, Golden Gun was not reviewed particularly well, largely due to its unpolished writing. It was serialized in the Daily Express in 1965, followed by Playboy. The story picks up following Bond's previous confrontation with Ernst Stavros Blofeld, in Japan. Bond is thought to be dead, but returns to Britain. Bond has been brainwashed, with strict orders to assassinate his superior. From here, Bond finds himself in a fight for himself that stretched from the UK to the Caribbean.
Ian Fleming (1908-1964) was a British author, best known for the James Bond novels. Fleming drew from his wartime service to create engaging plot points and memorable characters. Beginning with Casino Royale, Fleming wrote eleven Bond books during his lifetime, along with two collections of short stories.
