A deluxe Franklin Library first edition of Joseph Heller's humorous novel, which is the story of Bruce Gold, a Manhattan academic and author who is offered the position of the first-ever Jewish US Secretary of State. With a special introductory note by author and illustrations by Steven Stroud. Issued as part of the publisher's First Edition Society series which preceded the Simon and Schuster trade edition. One of an unspecified number in this limited edition. --- Bound in full dark red bonded leather covers with three raised bands on spine. Text presented on quality papers. Spine titling, elaborate decorations to covers and spine, and textblock edges all in bright gilt. Tan silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon placemarker.
