Chicago: W.B. Conkey Company, 1893. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good. 8vo. 186 pp. Off-white publisher's cloth, with small leather spine label. Front board printed with red text and green illustration of woman and girl making lace. Boards soiled and foxed, spine cloth darkened and lacking second label at lower spine. Ends chipped, with small puncture to cloth at spine foot. Corners pushed. Red text block edges, with some bleeding to bottom edge at turn in and first few leaves. Beautiful, textured, black and gold patterned endpapers. Binding tight and sturdy. One or two small, faint soil marks to text, some toning, but otherwise very clean. A history and guide book of lace, "from its origin to the present day," as exhibited at the Columbian Exhibition during the first World's Fair held in Chicago.
