About This Item
Garden City: Doubleday Doran, 1936. First American Edition, the true first printing preceding the British edition. An historic copy which belonged to film producer Rick Blumenthal at the Paramount Pictures studio in Hollywood and as co-producer he used this copy in the making of the 1942 film noir motion picture classic starring Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake. Stamped in purple ink on the cover: “RETURN TO STORY DEPT. - PARAMOUNT PICTURES INC.” Beneath which Blumenthal has boldly written in pencil: “Rick Blumenthal - Noted Copy - Please do not take. R.S.” throughout the book he has written his pencilled notes, scorings, and annotations. Original publisher’s green stamped beige cloth, some tanning to spine, some light staining to rear board, and some slight fraying at extremities in an excellent facsimile dust jacket.
