About This Item

Glenview, IL: Scott, Foresman and Company, 1982. Trade Paperback. Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. "What kind of book is this? Teachers, often tell us about a gap they feel between education theory and classroom realities. The theory they had studied was inadequate for real teaching responsiblities. Each chapter of this book contains a sequence of activities and readings that reflect our notion of participant-learning. First in the sequence of activities are several questions that highlight the theme of each chapter, etc. Next you approach some aspect of teaching in a new way, analyze your action using resources given in the chapter, and then move through this cycle again to try out the new skill and strengthen it. The procedures in each chapter give you some options in planning your own learning sequence to fit your learning style and your teaching situation. Most chpaters include some activities that require access to a school and opportunites to observe or talk with students. The book is designed to guide the practicum portion of preservice teacher education and to be used as a resource for inservice teachers who want to improve their professional skills. As a resource book or handbook, it can be pulled off the shelf to be used in solving teaching problems as they arise. 360 pages. Some light rubbing on top & bottom & edges of spine and some places on outside edges. Spine is faded. The 4 outside corners tips are slightly curled up. Front cover has a 2" crease across the top right corner, and two 1" creases - one middle on the right side and one on the bottom. Rear cover has a 1" crease across the top left corner and a 1" crease in the middle..
