Includes "The Little Mermaid," "The Princess and Pea," "The Emperor's New Clothes," "The Ugly Duckling" and 70 others. With color illustrations by Robert Lo Grippo on about 20 pages (at least one illustration spans two pages). Translated from the Danish by Erik Christian Haugaard. Includes a painted portrait of Andersen by George H. Jones near front of volume. Issued as an entry in the publisher's Collected Stories of the World's Greatest Writers series. One of an unspecified number in this limited edition. Publisher's "Notes from the Editors" booklet is included. --- Bound in rich full orange-brown bonded leather covers with two raised bands on spine. Spine titling, elaborate decorations to covers and spine, and textblock edges (AEG) all in bright gilt. Interior leaves printed on high-quality papers. Orange silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon placemarker. Volume lacks a dust jacket (as issued). --- An about-Near Fine, gift-worthy copy with faint scratching to gilding at textblock fore-edge, otherwise lacking damages or evidence of having been read.
