From the dust jacket, "Over the years, Mr. Winston purchased and had fashioned some of the finest rough diamonds ever discovered, including the Jonker, the Niarchos, the Taylor-Burton, the Winston, the Star of Independence, and the Star of Sierra Leone. He also handled such famous historical diamonds as the Idol's Eye, the Arcots, the Nepal, The Briolette, the Indore Pearshapes, and the Eugenie Blue. He is perhaps best known for donating the notorious Hope diamond to the Smithsonian Institution as a gift to the American people. The fascinating histories of these and dozens of other spectacular diamonds handled by Harry Winston are recounted in this book." A beautiful, scarce first edition, signed by the author.
