With the scarce original glassine wrapper and printed card flaps; glassine has a closed tear on spine; short tears on front panel; rear flap is detached; laid over with a mylar sleeve. pp. 453. The real experiences of soldiers on the Somme and Ancre fronts during the later half of 1916, told in a lightly disguised way by the Australian poet and novelist Frederic Manning (1882-1935), who wrote from first-hand experience, having fought in the trenches with the 7th Battalion. The Peter Davies edition of 1930 followed the 1929 limited edition published by The Piazza Press under the title The Middle Parts of Fortune.
