Bound in modern quarter calf over marbled boards, new endpapers. Faint marginal dampstain to opening leaves, light even browning throughout text, signature of William Beattie (1795-1875), noted physician and travel writer, on title. Overall, a very clean, attractive copy. Edited by John Selden from a manuscript in the Cotton Library, this is the First Edition of Eadmer's most important work, the "Historiae Novorum", a chronicle of contemporary events from the time of the Conquest in 1066 to the early 12 th century.
