About This Item

London: F Lewis, 1966. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 12" by 9". None. The second, revised and enlarged edition of this history of British Carpets. Written by authorities on the subject, this is a comprehensive study. This work was originally written by C E C Tattersall, and has since been revised by Stanley Reed. This copy is from the Royal Society of Arts Library, with their bookplate to the front pastedown. With 176 plates. Collated, complete. There are chapters on carpets in general, carpets in Britain, 16th and 17th century developments, Turkish carpets, the 18th century onwards in Britain, embroidery, needlework and much more. The final chapter looks into carpet manufacturers. A charming work, which provides a fascinating insight into the history of this particular interior. In the publisher's original binding. Externally, generally smart with bumping to the head and tail of spine. A few light marks to the boards. Spine has faded. Internally, firmly bound. Bookplate to the front pastedown of the Royal society of Arts Library. Shelf number written to the verso of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
