Boston: Massachusetts Horticultural Society, 1880. Cloth. Very Good +. A solid, very presentable copy of the 1880 1st edition. Clean and VG+ in its dark-green cloth, with blindstamped bordering and bright gilt-titling along the spine. Light wear at the front inner hinge (and just a touch to the rear inner hinge), armorial bookplate ("William Augustus Jeffries") at the front pastedown, several tiny tears at the spione crown. Thick octavo, lengthy Introduction ("Sketch of the History of Horticulture in the United States up to the Year 1829") leading up to a history of the Society.
