This is the 1873 HARDCOVER first printing -- not a cheaply-made modern reprint. NOT a library discard. It is bound in the original cloth with a gilt-decorated spine and blind-stamped covers. The spine is uniformly sun-lightened but all gilt lettering and decorations are still bright and distinct. SEE PHOTOS. The cover is faded at the edges. Spine ends and corners are mildly worn. Hinges are sound. Original yellow endpapers. No owner's name or bookplate. A few pages are lightly foxed but are otherwise clean and unmarked. Rare hardcover 1st edition. Cover has some wear and water marks on the edge. Some shelf wear & corners bumped. Some light tanning. Nice, tight binding. Good for its age. Fictional story of Wannaseska, the Cherokee prophet set during the time the State of Georgia (white settlers) were about to confiscate Cherokee Lands in N. Georgia. The prophet is first hand eye witness and victim to the outrages. Story ends with the Trail, of Tears when the Cherokees agreed to move to Indian Territory in Oklahoma.
