About This Item

D.M. Hogan, Pittsburgh, PA, 1835. First Edition. Hardcover (Quarter Leather). Very Good Condition/No Dust Jacket (as issued). Book Very Good hardback. Modern rebinding by Townsend Book Bindery, New Market, VA, in green paper-covered boards with paper title on leather spine and gilt decorations at top and bottom of spine. iv, [5]-204 p. 19 cm. The majority of the book is a parish-by-parish summary of the Baptist churches in Wales, including lists of all of the ministers in each. There is a chronological listing of each parish in the back (pp. 188-92), providing the founding date and the name of the "Ministers appointed to preach" (and often the text used in the first sermon). In addition, there is information about ministers who emigrated to the American colonies to found churches there. Size: Duodecimo (12 mo; up to 7 3/4" / 17.5-20 cm tall). Item Type: Book. Text contains marks and notes scattered throughout, in pencil. Binding is tight; corners bumped with some shelf wear. No foxing in this copy, though starting at p. 49 the paper stock changes and the pages have darkened some from age. There is a light water stain that affects the left side of the title page, but recedes quickly in succeeding pages, so it is limited to the top inside corner by p. 11 and is completely gone by p. 45. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Religion & Theology; Christianity / Baptist; Europe / Great Britain; United States / Colonial Period (1600-1775); United States; 19th century; History.
