New York: New Directions, 1944. Hardcover, orange paper covered boards, in original orange price-clipped paper dust-jacket. 32pp., A selection in the 'Poets of the Year' series. First edition. Abraham Moses Klein (14 February 1909 - 20 August 1972) was a Canadian poet, journalist, novelist, short story writer and lawyer. He has been called "one of Canada's greatest poets and a leading figure in Jewish-Canadian culture." The Hitleriad was Klein's third poetry book, two of which were published in 1944. A mock epic poem, the piece is a vituperative and satirical attack against Hitler and his henchmen, reminicient of Pope's Dunciad. An very well preserved copy. No previous ownership marks. A very clean, square, unmarked copy. Fine in a near fine dust-jacket.. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
