Santa Rosa: Black Sparrow Press, 1989. 1st . Hardcover. Fine/fine. Bound in publisher's original quarter brown printed cloth and creme paper boards printed in black and brown with full page illustration on the front cover. Designed by Barbara Martin. There were 1000 hardcover trade copies, 500 special hardcover copies numbered and signed by the author, and 176 numbered copies hardbound in boards by Earle Gray each with an original signed print by Charles Bukowski. This is one of the 176 copies also signed by Bukowski on the colophon leaf in the back of the book. Original publisher's acetate is in fine condition.

Synopsis

Charles Bukowski is one of America's best-known contemporary writers of poetry and prose, and, many would claim, its most influential and imitated poet. He was born in Andernach, Germany, and raised in Los Angeles, where he lived for fifty years. He published his first story in 1944, when he was twenty-four, and began writing poetry at the age of thirty-five. He died in San Pedro, California, on March 9, 1994, at the age of seventy-three, shortly after completing his last novel, Pulp (1994).
