Turgenev's second novel, 1859, a romance set amid the tensions arising from "westernizing" influences in mid-19th century Russia. Mass-market paperback, wraps rubbed along spine and lightly shelf-worn, edges age-tanned and foxed/stained, water stain about 1.5" at bottom corner left pages a little wavy, page margins age-toned. Two handwritten page-reference notes on last page of book, one margin note correcting a word in the translation.
