The book is ex library and library bound by Apollo Library Binding. The fronte end paper has been neatly cut out and the preliminaries carry cancelled stamps; the copyright page the Library stamp. The body of the book is clean, unmarked and solid and guaranteed to stay thus. Library binding is indestructible. First published in 1942, reissued in 1949, this is the third edition revised and enlarged. "Alfred Joyce, grazier and farmer, was born in Middlesex, migrated to Australia in 1843 to join his sons in Melbourne. The family purchased 10,000 acres (4047 ha) on the upper Loddon River, which they renamed Plaistow, after the family's country home. Part II contains letters written between 1851 - 1864. Maps on endpapers. Includes maps, illustrations and index." (Trove)
