About This Item
New York: The Hour, 1940. Newsletter. Ten issues of the mimeographed newsletter, very good; each with a small colored card stapled to the first page listing that issue's contents. Generally five pages per issue. Numbers present are 30, 31, 33, 38, 40, 44, 45, 59, 69, and 70. Also included is a brochure advertising the newsletter as "a publication exposing anti-democratic forces ... supporting democratic rights." Articles tracking various fascist groups in the US. Headlines include "New York priest writes for Coughlin under pseudonym," "US Fascists prepare for 1940 elections," "Klan-Bund rally addressed by Coughlin's friend," and "New influx of Nazi propaganda," describing how tracts from the World-Service Agency were received and distributed by US-based supporters. Goldwater 92; "This mimeographed weekly was issued by the American Council against Nazi Propaganda. It followed numerous aspects of the Communist line. Albert Kahn was the editor.
