Rare, original sheet music for "I Wish I was in Dixie's Land" - the unofficial national anthem of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. 1860; Firth, Pond & Co.; New York. First edition, presumed 2nd issue with the "No. 1 Popular Vocal Music" advertisement on the back cover (the version with a blank back cover is given precedence and is considered the 1st issue). Complete in six pages and securely bound at the spine with stitching. Written and Composed expressly for Bryant's Minstrels by Dan. D. Emmett. Arranged for the Pianoforte by W.L. Hobbs.
Condition:
Foxing to the pages. There is a light stain at the lower-inner corner of the pages. All pages are present and bound at the spine with stitching present. There is a 1.5" separation at the top where the front and back pages have pulled from the center page. Old name written in pencil at the top-right corner of the front cover. Overall in Good condition.
