About This Item
London: International Correspondence Schools Ltd. , 1907-1914 . Cloth. Very Good. 9" by 6". Not Stated. Two early editions of the I.C.S. Reference Library including works on engineering and construction. Two volumes from the International Correspondence Schools Ltd. Reference Library in the original publisher's cloth bindings. A series of textbooks prepared for the students of the International Correspondence Schools and Containing in Permanent Form the Instruction Papers, Examination Questions, and Keys used in their Various Courses. This collection includes Volume 14, which is undated, and has been dated from Jisc and through the limited information provided on the publication page. This is the first edition. With Volume 40, which is a reprint edition, first published in 1909. Volume 14 discusses Steam-Engine Mechanism, indicators and diagrams, slow-speed engines, high-speed engines, valve gears, governors, condensers, engine testing, engine instalment, engine management, steam turbines, and heating by steam. Volume 40 discusses brickwork, terra-cotta, faience, and tiling, building stones, masonry, carpentry, and roofing. With many illustrations throughout the texts. Volume 40 has two colour plates. Volume 14 has five monochrome plates, one of which is folding. Collated. In the original publisher's cloth bindings. Externally, smart. There is some bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. This is slightly worse to Volume 40 than Volume 14. The hinges of volume 40 are strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the odd spot and light age toning. Very Good
